(The Epoch Times reporter Zhang Ni compiled) NASA is opening an online application, inviting the Earth to leave its name on Mars. Applicants will also receive a “Mars boarding pass” as a commemoration.

The application deadline is September 30th. This is NASA’s initiative to motivate residents around the world to be enthusiastic about human space activities. Let the names of the people collect the Mars rover launched in July 2020 next year to go to Mars.

The scientist will use the electron beam to engrave the applicant’s name onto the silicon chip. Each line is less than one thousandth of a human hair.

This way more than 1 million names can be accommodated on a very coin-sized chip. Given that the last “InSight” open similar event attracted 2.4 million names, NASA estimates that this number will not be less than last time. This means that more than one silicon chip needs to be engraved.

The engraved chip will be covered with a glass cover and mounted on the bottom of the probe car.

People who participate in these events will also receive Frequent Flyer Points for participating in other NASA activities. Going to Mars can accumulate about 300 million miles of miles per flight.

NASA’s 2020 Mars Rover has a weight of 2,300 pounds. It is expected to arrive in Mars in February 2021, and further collect all aspects of Mars’ climate, geography and other information back to Earth.
